Guiyuan Cao, Ph.D. Candidate

Mr. Cao completed the Bachelor’s degree in Harbin University of Science and Technology in 2012, followed by the Master’s degree at Harbin University of Science and Technology.

He is a PhD candidature in Swinburne University of Technology. His research topic is ultrathin flat graphene oxide lenses for imaging.

Yao Liang, Ph.D. Candidate

Mr. Yao Liang completed the Bachelor's degree in optics at South China Normal University in 2012, followed by the Master's degree at South China Normal University in 2015. He jointed Swinburne University of Technology (Australia) as a PhD candidature in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Baohua Jia.

Yao’s current research interests lie in the low dimensional optical devises of exotic electromagnetic response.

Kitying Chan, Ph.D. Candidate

Kit completed the Bachelor's Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2015. In 2016, she started the degree of PhD at Swinburne University of Technology (Australia) on carbon fibre reinforced composites (CFRP) for energy storage. Her research efforts have made for innovating advanced energy storage systems and integrating them with renewable energy technologies, especially solar energy, aiming at improving the reliability and efficiency of the overall energy systems.

Kit's current research focuses on developing a new type of structural power composites by using CFRP and graphene oxide (GO). Through the functionalization on CFRP, the advanced composites can function as primary structural components and energy storage devices simultaneously, resulting in a significant weight reduction and hence an ultimate energy saving. The possible applications of this kind of structural power composites include electric vehicles (EVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Tieshan Yang, Ph.D. Candidate

Tieshan Yang received his Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from Ludong University, China in 2012 and his Master's degree in Optical Engineering from Beijing University of Technology, China in 2015.

He is now a PhD student (started from September 2016) under the supervision of Professor Baohua Jia at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. His research interests focus on laser nanofabrication on two-dimensional materials for functional photonics devices and solar thermal water desalination.

Chunhua Zhou, Ph.D. Candidate

Miss Chunhua Zhou received the Bachelor’s degree in 2012, and the Master’s degree in 2016 both at Taiyuan University of Technology (China).

Presently, she is a PhD student at Swinburne University of Technology, her current scientific interest is focused on optical properties of perovskite.

Qingmei Hu, Ph.D. Candidate

Shirong Lin, Ph.D. Candidate

Shirong Lin is a PhD Candidate in Center for Quantum Technology Research, Beijing Institute of Technology, China since 2013. In 2017, he was awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship by China Scholarship Council, and came to the Centre for Micro-Photonics, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia as a joint PhD student.

Shirong's current research mainly focuses on the light-matter interaction. In particular, light interact with the anisotropic meida, magnetoelectric media, and nonlinear media. He also investigates the complex light, i.e., light with interesting properties of the intensity, phase and polarization, and using the complex light to theoretically and experimentally study the opto-magnetic effect and opto-mechanical effect and their applications.
